AAR: Deter, Detect, Defend

Post by Darkwing »

Hi All,

I just put up a detailed narrative AAR of the Deter, Detect, Defend, on my blog here:

Command AAR: Deter, Detect, Defend Part 1

Kudos to Randomizer for making the scenario--it was a lot of fun.

Part Two should be up tomorrow (I'll post a link)

Splendid AAR, glad that you had fun! You really captured the essence of the Alert HQ atmosphere, at least as I had envisioned what it may have been like when writing the scenario. Too bad about Vancouver, in testing it never seemed to survive. Thank you for posting and looking forward to reading Part Two.

This is mostly exercise in managing limited number of aircraft.

one helpful thing I figured out is if bogeys are identified as having no missiles, i.e. with dumb bombs only, and they are heading to the area covered by SAMs, then it is better to let them pass and have SAMs deal with them, rather than spend AAMs. AAMs are at premium during the first three hours.

Once aircraft is ready and patrols are set up, the rest is easy.

Well, I still lost some Canadian towns near Vancouver. The radar coverage sort of sucks in the north.

My aircraft losses are all to bomber tail guns.

Score 0 - average (not sure if scoring is enabled?).

Thanks for the AAR. Once the CMANO v1.06 patch is out this scenario will be undergoing revision to make the defender mission more of a challenge.
