indebted private economy?

Post by catweasel »

To my surpise I noticed that my empire's private economy was around 400k in red. As cashflow is slightly positive, I expect a recovery in the years (!) to come.

While I still consider myself a novice player (70h), I tried to avoid ressource shortages by building mines accordingly (when looking at the compents, only two of them are marked in amber). Private ships design is fully automated, only for the mining bases I added some more weapons to hold-off single pirate ships. I have two colonies which both are moderately taxed (approval is +29 and +27), one has a medium size starbase, the other a small one.

What lead into this situation, any clue? What are you doing to avoid it?

Hi,

1. To avoid a situation like that I try to realize very cheap freighter-, and Miningstation Designs.
Only the absolutely necessary components for frighter designs, no weapons, no shields, no ammor.
Take a look in the balance sheet of the private sector, where the money is go and change the relevant designs.

2. Try to built Miningstations as per empire priority and not simple as much as you can, because the private sector has to earn money with the ressources. If the proposal higher than the need the private sector will make loss.

Pirate smuggling also comes out of your private economy, so it can become quite a drain at 100 creds per unit. If someone deliver, says, 10000 units of Hydrogen (one large freighter load), that's a cool 1 million right there.
