Steam multiplayer connection issues

As fans of the series from the 90s, me and my friend bought the new Gateway to Caen on Steam yesterday. However the lobby system is super buggy.

As we join into the lobby, half of the times it loads quickly the list of other players who are in the lobby (and half of the time freezes before that), but then freezes for several minutes. After the waiting, it finally gets off from the lockdown, loads the forum in the middle, but no matter what we do, we cannot connect to one another. Unless we join exactly at the same time into the lobby, the one who joins the lobby first will never see the other in there. The chat does not send any messages through either.

Yesterday we did manage to connect after several tries (and only when my friend send me a request to host a game, not vice versa nor so that I would invite him to join the game). Today when we wanted to continue, after 1½ hours of trying, we finally gave up. At the moment it feels like 2 x 40 euros was wasted money.

I just tried to test now if multiplayer lobby works properly. I also get the same problem. After I click ok confirming my user-name and password and log-in to the lobby, the game freezes while the matchmaking forum on the middle is loading. This has not happened ever before. If you wait long enough, it seems it eventually loads but it is very annoying. Are the developers testing stuff on the server-side or something? This was not broken before.

Are you guys still having problems with this? I did notice that we had a server go down but it should be back up now.

It still freezes as the matchmaking forum loads. It loads eventually as I have said above, after like 1-2 minutes. But it wasn't like that before.

Are you running any software firewalls?

FYI - We're looking into this and will update on the issue as soon as possible. For right now, the connection will succeed if you give it a minute.

I believe this is now fixed. Sorry for the downtime, we had a very odd server issue.

I can confirm that I and others still have connection issues. It appears to not make any difference if one has the Steam or Matrix version, I have both.

Are you still seeing a ~1 minute pause when trying to connect to the lobby system?

I did not experience any pause connecting to the lobby, only an inability to connect to individual opponents.
