The countdown has started - I got a promotion at work, so things are looking good for us getting an internet connection soon. Hope everyone's ready for some heavy net battling when I get back. Heh.
The forum seems have dropped off lately.

What's everyone doing? The past couple weeks have been awfully slow here. Start killing each other, people.

If you stick it up your own, I'll personally push the **** button.
You're a little limited, aren't you? C4 this, big guns that. Get some new lines. Go play with your Action Man.

Hi there.Originally posted by Heavy Metal
Hey, what's up? I'm a newbie. I am fighting battles against my comp so I can send my jocks to get killed by you guys.
I'm stuck without an internet connection at home, so I won't be fighting any online battles anytime soon. Maybe another month or two. If you're still around then, I'm sure we'll get a chance to fight a few times. I intend to be battling everyone I can find when I get back to make up for this missed time.
That includes you, Hetz - and you too, PC, if you're back and around. heh heh.
Anyone know what happened to Lyrrhus?

Hey, welcome to ToS Heavy Metal,
It's not necessary to work jocks up for netplay because duels are mostly with random jocks and titans. Look me up on ICQ and I'll be glad to show you some of the tricks of the trade
All that I ask is for you to take pity on a poor, slightly addled, harmless old man.

What he actually means by "take pity" is not to scream and yell and curse when he blows the heads off of your titans in rapid succession.Originally posted by GROND

I can't say anything about poor...
Slightly addled is dead on.
When he says "harmless", he's comparing himself to the average tactical nuclear strike - so therefore he's harmless in comparison.
And, of course...old is dead on. Heh heh.

Oh, so you don't use the jocks you play with in single player mode. *Phew*--what a relief, I am getting sort of attached to them. I just won another battle agains my comp today. I'm using an Attila and a Thor right now. I really like the plasma gun, I can't wait to get a medium class titan so I can use the neutron blaster!

Most people don't play with their teams for exactly that reason - they get attached to them, spend hours and hours updating them, and don't want to see them blown to smithereens by evil old men like Hetzer.

Ah, learned another lesson today. An exploding titan has quite a blast radius (because the are nuclear powered?), but that's what I get for shooting a disabled titan for no good reason I guess. Hey, I can't get G.M.'s to work. I had a jock boosted up on G.M. skill, but couldn't get better than 002% hit chance, any suggestions? And what do flares do?

ill answer both:
flares reduce the chance of being hit by missles
the g.m.s are long range are you getting close or what? also the terrain might be interfering so find a good mountain climb it and fire away
and blowing a titans engine can be a good thing......if your clear of the blast radius.......and as for hetz and the others AVOID AT ALL COSTS...........you can trust me so lets have a battle say oh right now my chainsaw and your head er i mean strategic thinking

Flares only work against Guided Missiles, not thei Long/short-Range-Missile cousins.
Your 2% chance to hit is probably because you don't have direct line of sight with the target. There's two ways to fix that: You can boost up your Indirect Fire skill, but early on that may not be as easy to do as: Like WFF suggested, get up high on a mountain. If you still don't have LoS try jumping up, firing and jumping back down inbetween shots. It can work, though it isn't great, better to get LoS more conventionally.
Lobsteve.

If you don't have a direct LoS to the target, it'll be marked with a yellow 'x' in the left upper corner of the hex. No LoS to the hex itself gets you a white 'x'. Or is it the other way around?
GMs have a minimum range of 5 hexes, below that you get a -20% to hit penalty per hex.
Engine explosions have a blast radius of 2 hexes for damage and heat and 1 hex for jock special effects.
You should read the manual and the guide for more info.
