"Prepare and attack" order?

Hello,

Can someone tell me how the "prepare and attack" order differs from a plain "attack" order? How exactly do units prepare for an attack?

It means that your fleet or force will be willing to spend a bit more time trying to make sure that it's all or mostly together before jumping to attack.
