Mine sweepers not working

Post by CapAndGown »

Hi,

Something seems to have gone wrong with mine sweeping. My opponent mined one of my harbors. I had the mine sweepers there go out to sweep it up.

On the first day, I got a message during the daylight phase that "MSW something-or-other Maru spots mine and kills it." I had 4 MSW's in this TF and only one of them spotted one mine in a 24 hour period! It used to be that all the minesweepers would sweep, both night and day.

On the second day, the minesweepers did nothing at all. The mines are still sitting there and apparently there is nothing I can do to get rid of them.

Something seems to have gone badly wrong with the minesweeping routine.

Please look into this.

Just because MSWs are there doesn't mean they find all the mines, does it? It's a 30 mile hex after all and those small sub-laid minefields can often elude MSWs for quite awhile. At least, that has been my experience.

I find it just the opposite. My minesweepers are much more effective. However, I use them by themselves with no DD escorts. Maybe that is the difference.

Or, maybe your TF docked in which case they are not sweeping mines. Try undocking them or mmoving them out one SQ, or station them in a nearby port and send them into the one that is mine with retiement orders.

Hello...

The problem is in sweeping enemy mines from a friendly harbor. We have fixed it.

Wait for the patch...

Well I don't know what problem you are talking about because the allied minesweepers have been working overtime clearing out my mines from Noumea. They have cleared out mines at a rate much faster than ever before. It's to the point where I don't even bother mining the hex any more unless I leave a couple of subs there to try and pick off the minesweepers.
