IJN Experience and Pilot Allocation

Am playing scen 19 in a PBEM that was started in about version 1.3.

I just checked on the experience of some of my IJN fighter groups and noticed that they had really dropped off, even the ones based in PM which I have had on standby for a few weeks (I'm doing really well this game and have knocked my opponent about somewhat).

Any way just about all the squadrons since version 2.11 have filled out with an overallocation of pilots (eg 27 planes 36 pilots). While this is all good and well, the problem is that I must have recieved all these pilots fairly quickly and as a result the experience has been brought down by all these pilots with 19 - 26 experience.

What twigged me to this was an unusual number of operation lossess which I havent had for quite a while. The average experience of most of my squadrons was in the region of about 70-80, now most of them are around 40-50. Quite a drop really.

Is this a result of a game started in another version?, and am I actually meant to receive over allocations of pilots?

No, it was the result of the pilot pools for both sides being too small. Mike mentioned this over in the UV forum and that the next patch would roughly double the size of the "pilot pools" for both sides so that neither would so quickly exp the "half-trained" newbies getting thrown into combat squadrons so fast syndrome (due to the greater operational pace of SC-19)

I experienced the same thing when i took a peak at the IJN side after 3 intensive months of combat. Getting my arse handed to me by the AI thanks to it's meat-ier deployment (100+ Beatty raids....EEK) and my insistance on trying to hold Port Morosby. I too was shocked at how much the pilot quality had already dropped, more so given that SC19 was meant to ask the question "what-if the IJN pilot program had been better organized than it was to produce more qualified pilots for an attrition war?"

The USN pool will still be larger for obvious reasons but both sides will get the increase which will see less EXP 20-40's entering the ranks so soon after the start of hostilities.
