OT: Swedish subs, or silent diesel-electric subs

Post by Jaroen »

For the submariners amongst us and other military enthusiasts, here's a good read about the effectiveness of small but very silent submarines:

What's known about these subs and the mentioned exercises with our WitP-AE sub-professionals?

That foxtrotalpha blog has more articles on the modern military but does offer relevant arguments that refelect on all questions military.

Cheers.

Thanks Jaroen. Very interesting article(s). I was just in the middle of re-reading Nimitz Class, a fictional but decent story about a diesel electric sub that takes out a US carrier in 2002. If anything, this article makes it seem even more possible. Frightening thought, and not surprising that the US tried to suppress the results of these exercises.
