victory conditions

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

victory conditions

Post by cato12 »

what kind of victory conditions are we gonna have? im mainly talking about the axis side.

obviously by this stage in the war the axis were doomed but from a gameplay perspective I think there needs to be a chance for the axis player to win imo.

I would guess it's like WiTE - if the Allies haven't won by a date, the Germans win. Variations in date determine level?

The rules are more complicated than WitE.

The Allied player receives victory points (VPs) for controlling cities, for damaging Axis industry/manpower and for partisan activity in Axis controlled areas.

The Allied player may lose VPs for undamaged U-Boat factories, for undamaged V-Weapon launchers/V-Weapon factories, for Allied casualties, and for not meeting certain beachhead goals.

Victory is decided on the net Allied points scored during the campaign.

Whats the time frame for the Western Allies to secure total victory?

It depends on whether the EF Box is on / off.  Off then Apr 45.  On then when the Soviets get to Berlin but no later than Aug 45.

At that points the scores are totalled and that determines the result.  So the Axis will always be defeated but you can still win on game points.

I guess going to Berlin is no option for the Western Allies given political niceties. But where is - in theory- the eastern limit ? The Elbe river at Torgau ?
