Supply

Post by Platon »

Global War, Turn 3, V.1.2.1.5.:

Why is in this example the Mannerheim HQ no Secondary Supply Source for the Kiel Militia and henceforce this unit out of supply?

And it is also my belief that there has to be CAP for the active player during Ground Support.

Beats me. Can you post a saved game in here?

Who owns Hanko? If the USSR owns Hanko, and there are no German units in Norway, and Sweden is neutral, I don't see a way to trace supply through Helsinki to a German primary supply source.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Here it is.

PS: Hanko is controlled by Finland. Norway and Sweden are neutral.
Also I noted that moving the German Militia on the hex where Mannerheim is located it stays in supply.
Looking at the Supply Source Overview Form shows Helsinki as Secondary Supply Source but not HQ Mannerheim.
I suppose that's the problem.

If that were the case the Konigsberg MIL would be OOS as well.

I think this would be untrue as the Konigsberg MIL in Helsinki is also sitting on a coastal hex, tracing supply from there across the Baltic. Am I right?

with kind regards

Right. Since it on a coastal hex, it does not need to use a port, so it does not matter if the ports are frozen or not.

However, if Hanko is Finnish, then the Kiel MIL should be in supply. (Assuming all the hexes that look Finnish controlled are Finnish controlled, of course.)

As that is the case (all hexes are Finnish controlled) we must have a bug here. The Mannerheim HQ is not considered as a Secondary Supply Source by German Units as it should be.

It is a bug. Not nice, since these types of bugs should have been fixed by now. I think we are looking at a regression one here...
