Just look at the maps in 2.06....

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

William did a fantastic job reworking all of the Red Storm maps. Really steps up the look of the game while staying clear on terrain elements and elevations. [&o][&o][&o]
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Great to hear you like the new map graphics. And, just as important, that you recognize the community effort that lead to these map graphics. Hence, the "Player's Edition".

"Red Storm", right from the start, has been a game that is open for user-created content: scenarios, units, maps and graphics.
This triggered a number of people to create alternative maps graphics, notably Plodder, Nick69, Jamm, RJLee, Takoda and myself. I know I nicked great ideas from all of them, and worked in some more from the OTS team. Even more people provided suggestions and encouragement on these forums. The fact that Steve modeled all Red Storm maps accurately after real-world Germany made it possible to enrich these maps with more information such as road numbers.

So enjoy the game with these maps, or with any other alternative from our community! You'll find alternatives on the OTS website (here), and some older ones in the threads of the "Mods and Scenarios" sub-forum.

Nice planning maps to on the website.

Only a confusion with the naming of the zip's
and the removal of the streams.

Ouch. Harry, thanks for reporting!
The absence of streams on those planning maps is a bug - I completely overlooked that. Perhaps I've been looking at maps too much recently...
I'll create a new bunch, upload them and ask Cap'n Darwin to remove the outdated entries.
