Amphibious units??

Post by SMK-at-work »

What's the actual effect of these?

I'm playing a scenario where I have an amphibious armoured unit - but as far as I can tell it doesn't actually have any "special" abilities - although there aren't many rivers to test it on it certainly doesn't seem to have any ability to move in sea hexes.

does it get an advantage if it makes an amphibious attack??

I don't think it gets an attack advantage, but the icon can move thru shallow sea and major river hexes.

Amphibious units are the only ones that can enter flooded hexes. They can cross suez/super rivers at +2. They can cross minor river/canal with no additional cost. IMO they should be able to enter shallow water too. For that matter units with major ferry ability should also be amphibious since they have the ability to cross large bodies of water. Not oceans but at least lakes.

Thanks guys - I think I haven't seen any effect because the unit doesn't have any major rivers or shallow ocean/lakes nearby - it'll have to go hunt some out! :)
