Automatic intercept - Do you need A/S missions set for it to work?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Automatic intercept - Do you need A/S missions set for it to work?

Post by KenchiSulla »

I was fooling around with the air tutorial and managed to hit Magdeburg heavily damaging the industry there without being intercepted. Does this have anything to do with directives set by the German player / in this case the scenario builder who has set first turn directives? Do you need to set A/S missions as the German player to make sure raids get intercepted or is it fully automated and only depending on the route the raid selects?

It should intercept automatically if you have enough resources within a range.

One thing to remember, unless assigned to any other AD air groups may fly automatic naval patrols, which eats up their miles as well. Disabling them for some air HQs can help to get more intercepts in the air. Don't remember if AI switching auto naval patrols off for some air hqs. Afaik, they all on by default.
