Bug Reporting

Post by RedLancer »

One and All

Whilst we have in testing fixed more than the odd bug or two I can't promise that there won't be a few more. Naturally we are dedicated to addressing any new bugs you may find as quickly as possible.

If you do spot a bug it is much quicker for us to find and fix in the code if you provide a save from which we can repeat the bug happening rather than one after the event - especially if you help with some clear instructions as to what occurred.

In any event if you do spot what you think is a problem then post whatever you can and we'll do our best.

Thank you

Am trying to understand Player's Handbook, but on Page 7 under Unit Bar (5.2.3)no Unit Bar shows up on the Left Side when I left click a unit. Please can anyone help? I do not want to continue without gong over ALL the rules so I have clarity.
Thanks.

The unit bar appears on the right had side of the screen. That's a mistake in the player's handbook.

RE: Bug Reporting - Windows Loading Cursor

Post by Dante Fierro »

This is a minor interface bug, but somewhat confusing when you first load the game. It may be dependent on my pc rig, but you might check it out anyway:

1. Click on "Play Gary Grigsby's War in the West. Windows Loading Cursor (round, with light circling) shows up while loading.
2. You see in game load bar. When finished screen switches to "War In the West" Options Menu & Tabs.
3. Click on Pick Scenario. Panel of available scenarios display.
4. Click on "Introductory Scenario - Operation Husky". Text description of scenario displays.
5. Click on "Load the Selected Scenario" Windows Loading Cursor displays AND Pop-Up with "Enter Folder name for the game saves"
*MINOR BUG* 6. At this point, the Windows Loading Cursor remains active, i.e. the normal pointer cursor does not re-appear after the pop-up displays. This confused me at first, and I waited awhile for the Loading Cursor to stop but it never did.

7. After waiting some time, I decided even with the "Windows Loading Cursor" still active, to click on the check mark on the "Enter Folder name" popup.

8. The game map for Husky loads, and Automatic Air Directive Creation panel pops up, the cursor returns to normal pointer cursor. All is good.

Yes, you are right. Cursor is set to wait status when you are loading the save file. I've reset cursor to normal arrow when folder dialog pops up.

Btw, it is better to post a separate thread as it may get lost here.

Yes - I realized after the post that it shouldn't be in this thread. Doh! I think I just lost three morale points.

RE: Bug Reporting - Multiplayer Save Game not updated correctly

Post by rseiler254 »

I finished my turn in Multiplayer and saved it. After the turn was saved it still says updated last by my opponent. When I click on the game it says it is not my turn. Haven't gotten a turn back from my opponent so I wonder if he/she is having the same problem. Is there any way to fix this? Sandy vs rseiler254.

v1.00.44Beta testing the editor to move units then saved it, loaded the game and played first tutorial (modified) so all units are all ready across the sea and in place, first turn on 3rd attack game froze and didn't respond so had to control alt del to get out of it, waited first for 10 mins to see if it was stuck in a loop, no event viewer message or log made, game doesn't seem to save error logs either, but have screen shots of freeze, playing it normally now and it and see if it's me or something else, as i'd guess most who have installed the beta don't do tutorials again maybe during testing a beta?

game settings are on easy with all at 200% for a more easy learning for me[;)]

last one

if there is a log file somewhere, as i've had a quick look i'll upload that to...

first move so save will be of little use maybe? as tbh there's only the start setup but does do it each time as i've tested that as well, so easy to redo... all 3 yellow units in the area get attacked in turn, 3rd attack locks game up...

Can you provide a save with specific instructions on how to recreate a crash, or are these random and not repeatable.

I'd guess it has something to do with your changing the scenario, but then it's odd it's crashing during combat.

yes if needed to question one, and answer to question 2 is, it's not a modded one now used, as that crashed on turn one every time, this is standard none modded husky tutorial with latest beta used and crashed on turn 3 ,now uninstalled and tried to wipe left over files and found some locked and hidden, but sorted that, now re trying with fresh install with nothing added, a virgin install only, with latest none beta update installed only, testing it now...
