Frequent Freezes

Playing the game on my PC I'm experiencing frequent freezes. Most noticeable when starting the game with Allied AI. In the Husky scenario for example I never manage to get to the German turn. The game always freezes during the Allied amphibious movement and never returns. The game also freezes on other occasions, like during the air execution phase or sometimes during combat resolution. The system is running on Win8.1 with an i5 CPU and a Nvidia GPU and Optimus.

Have you tried renaming your sound folder to see if this is a sound issue? It hasn't crashed on me in months on the systems here, but it does seem sensitive to certain sound setups from the posts here so far. Do you have any additional sound codec packs installed?

Thanks, that seems to have solved it. Got to the German turn for the first time. I have additional video codecs installed, not sure whether they came with additional audio codecs.

Not always. But the issue is that sometimes they broke them and change how the system should handle them.
