Scenario ideas

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Scenario ideas

I'm not sure if there is a way of editing this but, while it's great there are scenarios for the Italian campaign on it's own and one for the breakout through France, without the Italian campaign - both those campaigns start with the landings already done. It would be nice to have a campaign just for D-Day and another just for Italy, but starting a little early so we could pick our landing areas and fight to get inland, rather than have them already complete. We can do that on the Grand Campaigns, but they involve controlling Italy and Northern Europe.

Just a suggestion - very much enjoying the game. Played Husky about 10 times now and actually starting to do worse than I was after 2 or 3 games, so I must be ready for a bigger scenario!

There is an editor if people want to try to build some variants as smaller scenarios.

The D-Day May Start campaign allows exactly that and the 1943 Campaign allows you to reset your amphibious/airborne targets on Turn 1, still keep 49 prep and land wherever you want on Turn 2 if you are so inclined. Is that what you were requesting?

What I'd like is the May start, but just for D-Day to Berlin, without Italy. And Italy, where I can pick my invasion targets without D-Day. I know what we've got is close but, particularly for D-Day, a lot of the fun, for me, is getting established inland - but the current scenario has that already in place.

Ultimately, the main 43-45 campaign is what I want to play, but for learning beyond Husky - the D-Day without Italy would have been cool.

Eric: I think I agree - maybe an optional start to the Italian 1943-1945 Campaign that allowed a resetting of the amphibious objectives. Right now of course it starts with the amphibious and airborne landings already in place in Sicily. Not that I mind that as it gives a historic start to the game but some might prefer more freedom operating/learning and greater target options just with the Italian front - though I do realize the massive Axis AI issue if that was to take place in solitaire games.
