Unable to download!

I bought the game, but I'm unable to download. I keep getting the message that my current security setting will not let me download this file? I've never seen this before. I haven't changed anything. Any ideas? I did turn off my security software (Trend Micro) but that didn't help!

Hi Treale,

I'm not sure from the description - but typically that will either be a browser setting or anti-virus/security software. I would check your browser next or try a different browser. Most have security settings for downloaded files in their settings/options. See if you can make that temporarily more lenient to allow the download.

Next option would be to temporarily uninstall your anti-virus, as in some cases those programs "lie" about being actually disabled. We have had a few cases where an uninstall was necessary to get around an issue, then immediately reinstall your anti-virus once you have the file or the installation is complete. In most cases, they have other "disable" or "whitelist site/file" options that solve the issue without an uninstall.

If you are not able to download after trying these, please contact our Help Desk (see my signature) and they can troubleshoot it with you in more detail.

Thanks for the quick response. I went to my wife's computer and downloaded it (same settings as mine). No problems. I'll just transfer the file to mine and go from there?

I changed browsers (Chrome from IE) and it downloaded fine on my computer? Weird....[:@]

Downloading .exe files has been disabled in most internet browsers for some time now as protection against mal-ware and viruses. Any download of a .exe file that isn't in a container(zipped or some form of compression) is likely to be something unkind for your computer, or so your browser thinks so

It's always the best solution to test another Browser, especially if your are using the very vulnerable Internet Exploder. That's why many AV programs may block .exe downloads with IE.

It worked with Chrome and IE on my wife's computer? I'm surprised that they didn't zip the exe file? Either way I got it downloaded!

Having similar download issues.  Have done the following:
 
  • disabled Norton (Sleep mode)
  • Downloaded with IE on a Win 8.1 machine
  • Downloaded with Firefox on Win 7 machine
  • Downloaded from the BlueSnap link, and the Members page
File seems corrupted and will not run, so I fired up my laptop - Win 7 and repeated the same steps.
 
Same results.
 
Any ideas?

Open a helpdesk ticket or just contact us at support[at]slitherine.co.uk with your order reference number (or email address used to place the order) and we will provide you a download link from our ftp.
