Invasion Intel for the Axis??

Post by ratprince »

So Ive been trying invasions everywhere to test it out....

Does the Axis get some sort of rough intel where an invasion is targeted as soon as it happens? The reason I suspect this is, Ive targeted random streteches of beach with no units, only to have many divisions show up as soon as I target a hex with invasion.

Does this represent some form of intel of the invasion? If so..cool. I thought it might be just another AI cheat mechanic. Either way is fine. Just curious if this would apply in non AI games as well...like, does a beach show up red or something in MP games if it is targeted

There's no hex that shows that on the axis side, server or playing AI. There are other, subtle ways to predict where an invasion is coming.

Sounds like insufficient recon so existing units were not spotted.

Try looking at air interdiction levels and recon levels. If the Allies have stronger in those there is probably a high chance of invasion there

Not really my point.

My question is, does the AI axis get to "know" where you just targeted an invasion hex? Ive tested it with massive recon before and after targeting a hex. Axis presence quickly increases after simply targeting an area for invasion.

I can't say I've noticed what you are observing. If you targeted coastline near Spain and that happened you might have something but I've selected Brest peninsula for example and its been lightly defended when I come ashore. Now I will say the AI is better than a human player could be on getting units there the turn after an invasion to hem you in. The Germans get a lot of new divisions the first half of 1944 and they will be adding units to the Atlantic Wall at a good clip. That may be what you are seeing, after all AI will put units where there aren't any.
