Public Beta Hot Patch: Version 01.03.01.05

Post by Shannon V. OKeets »

The attached Zip file, when unzipped, provides a new MWIF.exe. This is a Public Beta, not an official release. The purpose behind making this version available is to fix several problems with the Public Beta version 1.3.1.0 - discovered by beta testers and others over the past week or so.

I expect to release at least one more Public Beta before New Year's, with more corrections for NetPlay bugs reported by the beta testers over the past few weeks.

=====

Release Notes for Version 1.3.1.5

Reinforcements
1. Fixed a problem with the game halting during the Place Units subphase of the Reinforcement phase when some of the units had no place to arrive and had to arrive the next turn. This problem only occurred if these were the last units to place on the map for the current major power.

Initiative
2. Fixed two problems in Solitaire mode: (1) where closing the Initiative form for the first turn did not end the phase and (2) with the program halting during the Initiative phase when a player declined to reroll.

3. For NetPlay, fixed a problem where an endless series of the game record logs was sent by the non-deciding player’s computer while waiting for the other player to decide who goes first for the turn.

Naval
4. Fixed a bug in naval combat where the program was often halting when changing the naval combat subphase.

Air
5. Fixed a problem with multiple Port Attacks where if Surprise points were applied to Avoid Combat, or if they were applied to reduce the air-to-sea factors to zero (using anti-aircraft fire), then any remaining port attacks were completely skipped.

6. Fixed a problem in Solitaire mode with air-to-air combat in a naval air combat never starting.

End of Turn Phases

7. Fixed a problem with Search & Seizure halting the game when there is more than one major power capable of executing a search and seizure. Also added a message stating that the code implementing the effects of search and seizure has not yet been written.

8. For Solitaire and Head-to-head games, fixed a problem with the program halting at the beginning of the Liberation and Surrender phases when there was nothing to do in those phases.

This hotfix patch is a very small file download. Does it require patch 1.3.1.0 to be installed first, or can we just update from older versions of the game?

It just replaces the EXE file, so it is small (in comparison). If you want to back-up your MWIF.EXE first, just rename it before unzipping this to your World in Flames directory.

This does not answer my question. I am using version 1.2.3.2 right now -(I do like the changes in 1.3.1.0 but I read that the version had some bugs, so I waited to upgrade).

If I install the hotfix 1.3.1.5 on top of 1.2.3.2 - then the hotfix will give me all the fixes that 1.3.1.0 had as well?
All the changes are inside the exe file - yes or no?

Sorry - If I was not clear, but when we start to have multiple beta patches like we do now, it begins to get confusing for everyone.
It would be nice to have a new official patch after the holidays.

Thanks for all your hard work - I do love the game.
Cheers!

Odd as 1.310 is 723 megs. Can't see how a hot fix over 1.2.3.2 would do all that. But what do I know?

It only replaces the EXE. The units and graphics and manuals etc, etc. take up the rest of a full download.
