German Artillery Superiority

Post by Smirfy »

Having just completed my first campaign and I must admit I did enjoy parts of it, but it does seem that the Germans possess a clear artillery superiority. By the camapaigns close 32 units with 150mm IG, 30 units with 150 MM , 5 units with 210MM, 1 with 170, 50 with 105MM and 33 with 75 MM. The numbers are plentiful as well 7900 Germans and 1300 Italian tubes to the Allies combined total of 5600. The Allies have 25 4.5 inch units, 2 5,5 inch, 18 25 pdr units, 6 155mm units and 13 105mm units and 11 105 light units. In fact the German infantry divisions have more artillery tubes than a British division and thats not counting mortars. One of the salient things I got from playing was how pointless Allied artillery was. As an aside the British independant infantry brigades such as 231st appear to have a Field Regiment of Artillery as well as AT attached.
