Unit Prep Point Question?

Post by marion61 »

I know that an entire armored division cannot prep with an amphib., but if you break it down to 3 regiments can you prep them? I know you can with independent armored brigades, but I didn't see it specifically say you couldn't prep an armored regiment for a broken down division.

No, armored units are not able to prep for invasion as they are not able to invade directly.

I did this with the current version .08, and I broke down the 7th Armored, set it under an Amphib HQ. It started to get prep points.

That shows them on the ships still. Did they ACTUALLY land in the invasion segment?

I would like to know if this is WAD, or a bug? I don't want to use a bugged trick to get an advantage that wasn't supposed to be. Potentially, it could be a huge advantage because the prep'ed armor regiment/brigade won't have to pay cargo cost on the invasion turn, and it will have full mp's if it lands successfully. I also ran the Overlord Scenario May Start and put and entire division of armor into 3 amphibs, retargeted them, and voila! I haven't even finished thinking about what I could do with an entire armor division, with full mp's on the beaches, ready to cut off reinforcements or slow them down. My Necromonger side says, "I guess it's a bug". But my Furian side says, "I hope this is WAD!"

AFAIK, this is WAD. Armored divisions may not invade, but broken down armored divisions are regiment/brigade size, so these could participate just as any non-divisional armored unit can.

All units that are invading have to pay a transport cost to land. These transports are taken from the pool and placed inside the amphib HQs. Aren't you seeing this in the game?

The load cost was an incorrect assumption on my part Joel[&o]! Every time I think I have this game almost figured out, something new spurs a whole another chain of thoughts and strats to try.
