No longer prompted to upgrade ships

Post by Galandar »

When I first started playing Distant Worlds a couple of years ago, whenever new science was researched, I was asked whether I wanted to upgrade the fleet. I now have all of the game upgrades, but I am no longer prompted to upgrade my ships when new technology is available. I looked at the empire policy list and that box is check-marked, but I still don't get notified. Any ideas why?

There's an automated feature that is probably turned on that automatically upgrades your ships when you get new tech. You'll hear lots of bleeps and sounds and your message window scrolls telling you each ship that got upgraded.

Thanks Triple-A, but I don't think that is happening. I mean, ships would be returning to a base to be re-fitted, wouldn't they? And I haven't been seeing that. I liked it when I was notified, because at least I could say "Yes" and then all the ships would head for the barn to be refitted. The problem with that is that it left systems wide open to attack, but at least I knew that the ships were getting upgraded.
