Port repair

Post by JocMeister »

Is there anything you can do besides setting it to priority to repair faster?

As I understand it from reading the manual the process is automatic? If so its pretty annoying to watch the engineers go out and repair a rail line I don´t need instead of repairing a critical port. Or have I missed anything?

The port at Salerno has repaired a whooping 4% over the last 2 turns. Despite setting it to priority.

Ports and Railyards with Depots tend to repair quicker.

I tried to find the old post about this for you, but I didn't so here goes my two cents on this. If you have a hq unit with repair units attached (and not busy) move it near or on to the port to repair. It is going to cost you 1 admin point to set the priority, and set the depot at the hex to a 4 priority. If the hq unit that you moved to help repair the port has it's construction units out on the map, you can send them back to the hq to get reassigned. Keep track of the order in which priorities were assigned originally. The units may be repairing older priorities, and setting this one only puts it onto the list, in the order it was done.

I have a level 4 depot in the hex. Not helping it seems. [:)]

I tried exactly that. But the HQ keeps sending the engineers out to repair the stupid rail instead of repairing the port. As if the port was very low priority. [:(]

What's the interdiction level outside the port? If the hq thinks it can get more supply by rail, than it's getting in by sea it might, but I'm not sure about that. What I would like to have on the repair screen is to be able to assign a numerical value when I use priority, to see what's on priority repair, and to be able to move them up or down the list as the needs change.

No axis interdiction at all. WA interdiction around 30.

Something like you describe would be fantastic. I´m not a huge fan of micromanagement but something as important as port repair I would rather not leave to the AI to handle for obvious reasons.

If your waiting for ports to be repaired to launch another invasion, that will be a long wait. Prep at fully functional ports. If your waiting to move amphipbs for another invasion, the port doesn't have to be fully repaired to start sending, or receiving supplies.

Nah, my units are prepping back at the African port. I need Salerno to supply the air force once it rebase on Sicily.
