Setting patrol points request

Post by jeffk3510 »

I have another request that deals with setting patrols. This would include ASW, sub, and any other patrol.

We all know how to set up patrols, and they're fairly simply and work fine.

The one thing I find annoying and was curious if it could be changed is where the screen appears for each patrol point selection.

After every patrol point you set, when setting the next one, the screen reverts back to the location of the sub or taskforce - not the patrol area you previously set.

This isn't a problem when the patrol areas are right where your sub/taskforce is, but if say they're 40 hexes off screen, you have to scroll back to the patrol area every time you add a 2nd, and/or 3rd point.

Is there anyway when you select the 2nd and 3rd patrol point the screen to set the points would be centered over the previously selected point, and not the current location of the sub/taskforce?

Thanks.

Thanks for the support guys.

What do other folks think, and is this something that can even be implemented?

It was requested 4-5 years ago. I have a feeling it's not as easy as it looks.

You're probably correct, I just know it would be such a nice feature :)

Same here ole buddy. It was either you or I. If it was you I chimed in afterwards in support. If it was me you chimed in afterward in support.

Do remember clearly we went down this path, just have a foggy memory of the actual route.

Jeff,

I think this is it. That plus the improvement is pretty minor given that we can (and do) just click on the little jump map in the lower right-hand corner to get the screen back in the area.

Michael puts in tons of effort, all volunteer. [&o]

yea, the fact that all you got for responses was old timers reminiscing about how we went down this path before and no responses from any of the devs should be a sign that the request isn't going anywhere.

In addition to the original request, it would be also great if we could define waypoints in combination with a patrol area. Sometimes it is necessary to avoid the straightest way to the patrol area by going around certain chokepoints. ATM I do need to define a destination, and later on remember myself to change the TFs orders to a patrol area. This is quite cumbersome ...

Please do keep in mind that "any of the devs" at this point means michaelm and the mouse in his pocket. [:D]

I'm aware of that, but I won't give up.

He's having fun this year and playing very well. The team is a little under .500 for the season, with only 2 weekends of games left. Thanks for asking, Jeff! [:)]

I hope everyone is happy and healthy out there on the Great Plains!

*bump* I know majority of people feel this way about patrol points, so I will try to keep this at the top.

Jeff,

While I agree with the point I think it is so minor in its effect that it does not deserve to be bumped and kept in the spotlight. [8D]
