I am in SUmmer of 45, and My Capital ships at Manila just disappeared... NOt in repair, does not even show the ability to create a Carrier TF!!!

Might be right after I did the switches to get it to work for windows 8.1....

NO, it was a day after I did the switches....

Capital ships at other ports are fine....

If you go to the all ships button, it does say they're at anchor in Manila.

However, nothing appears at Manila in a TF, at anchor, or being repaired.

They also don't show up by hovering over the port icon at Manila either.

Continuing to look, not sure how much help I can be.

ALSO - Not losing a single USN cruiser is very impressive. Very.

I recall from some years ago there were threads that the ship display disappears when the number of ships (disbanded?) in a port goes over a certain number. Maybe 200? Something in that range. Can be a problem for the Allies in 1945.

If you can create any type of TF at all do so and get the disbanded number lower. See if they "come back."

I downloaded the save and see the same thing. However, I also did a rough sum of the ships using the mouse over (as you show in the screen pic), and there are over 1,100 ships in that port. I'm guessing that you passed some limit. Maybe it's 1,000, or 1,024 or something.

Try taking out a bunch of ships into a few big TFs and see if the missing ships show up in the port display then.

If you go in to make a taskforce of any kind there are over 1500 it appears.

Maybe the mouse over has a limit of lines. I'm pretty sure my total was not exact but no way I was off by >300! [:D]

I am sure it does.. I did some more looking, just for my own curiosity.

The 1500+ availability was for transport tf alone. CVs and BBs don't appear on the mouseover, but 9 CVs appear on the base screen, while 1 CA and 0 BBs appear. You go in to create a BB TF, hundreds of CAs, DDs, and BBs are available.

If there is a limit to # per port, that would be frustrating late game having to split up fleets into different ports, because 0 CVs show up on basescreen/mouseover, the option to create a CV group isn't even there. Since DDs and BBs show up on the basescreen, but can't be viewed when clicking on the port symbol, surface combat groups can be formed.

Surely this has to become an issue late game?

I do remember a limit coming up in tech support previously, and maybe an increase was made. I don't remember what exactly was done, but maybe the patch notes would answer that question.

Many people have made it to 1945 and 1946 without running into this problem. Isn't 1,000 (or so) ships a high enough limit for one port? Spread 'em out a little! [:D]

It might be inconvenient, but it would be realistic. Cramming 1500 ships into Manila Bay would hardly leave room to maneuver unless they were all pretty small. The number of ships anchored at Ulithi peaked at 722, just before the invasion of Okinawa. A limit of 1200 ships anchored seems reasonable, even generous.

Patch 6 increased the displayed number of ships in a port from 1000 to 1300.
