Where are Raided materials placed

After you raid a colony, and it says you obtained xxx amount of polymer etc..
Where exactly does all that material appear? not in your raiding ships right?
Does it end up magically in your starting space station?

Yes, they magically teleport to the nearest spaceport. If that spaceport is over a planet you own then they'll get beamed down to the planet (eventually).

Keep in mind that raids can quickly fill the entire cargo bay of a typical (stock design) small spaceport, and once it's full your loot just gets thrown out. So you'll want a planet to dump it all on ASAP.
