Buying the physical version (war in the west)

I want to go ahead and buy the physical version (war in the west), however I have two questions:

Upon ordering do I get the digital version right away so I can download while I await the physical shipment?
If so, do I also get the digital version of the manual so I can start reading?

Was gonna ask in a different thread but this one seems somewhat relevant.

I am thinking of buying a copy as a gift for a friend of mine. I know I can have the hardcopy shipped to his house, but I would like it to be registered to him instead of me, and allow him to download it. Would anybody know if it is possible?
