How do I evacuate?

Post by Grotius »

I'm having trouble getting a Transport TF to evacuate a friendly unit from another hex. The manual (8.22) says to create the Transport TF; order it to load troops; then choose the "Pick Up Unit" option. I don't see any "Pick Up Unit" option; I only get the option to load troops from my current base (Shortland). I'm IJN vs the AI; I'm using a small (cap=1000) AP. Any suggestions?

Try using a Fast Transport TF, it will have the option for "Pick Up Troops".

I'm not sure if you can do it with a normal Transport TF.

Anyone know?

Ah, I figured that might be it. I'll try Fast Transport. Thanks!

Re evacuation;

I usually just stand up, aim, and relax the detrussor muscle. Works pretty well.

Happy New Year

Mandrake, this leads to an unacceptable loss of essence.

Happy New Year to you, too. I'll be with you in apple blossom time ...

Happy New Year Sir;

Did you know Sellers was going to play the "Major Kong" role too? He got sick so they put in Slim Pickens.

Grotius...you apparently learned this important activity from your mom, aunt or Grandmother, or similarly configured individual :D :D ;)

Yep. Great how things work out, isn't it? Slim's inventory of the survival kit and his last big ride on the warhead just cannot be matched. As much respect as I have for Sellers's acting ability, this time it was just as well.

When Slim puts on the old cowboy hat and announces, "This time, it's nucular combat toe-to-toe with the Russkies," a comic pinnacle was reached.

A lot of people despise Stanley Kubrick for some reason. All I have to say in his defense is, "Dr. Strangelove," "A Clockwork Orange," "Barry Lyndon," "Paths of Glory," "Spartacus," and "Lolita." Shoot, you could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas on that.

You forgot one other good Kubrick film: a little thing called "2001: A Space Odyssey."

Never cared much for it. Too much abstract philosophizing (tossing the bone up into the air and having it turn into the spaceship, for example. Also, the gleeful celebrating of the "gifted" tribe after defeating the inferior bunch was just a little too anachronistically human, I thought) and Arthur C. Clarke for my taste. HAL was a mild kick, though. I also like the inspiration it gave Mel Brooks for the Neanderthal circle jerk in his "History of the World" movie (which was otherwise pretty lame).
