v1.00.21 install locking up Win 8.1

Hi all,
Trying to install the latest update on Win 8.1
Tried it 3 times through the Updater and it locked Windows up after the Updater had updated itself.
I downloaded the exe direct from the FTP link and that locked up Windows as soon as I double clicked it
When I say 'Locked up Windows' I mean not even the 3 finger salute will help.
Cold boot required.
Never had any problems with older updates and other games from Matrix are updating fine.
Anyone else seeing this?

Do you have any antivirus turned on ? Might help to turn them off + disconnect internet.

Well I'll give it a go but I have had the same AV and always had Internet Access on for every previous update, and they all worked OK

Well that didn't work. Still locking up

copy your saves into a new folder, uninstall the game, making sure you wipe the folder so nothing is left and reinstall the game and patch, fingers crossed for you, add all addons which installer asks for, even if you have then all installed already, .net, drx 9 etc etc, as it won't matter if they are all added again or checked to make sure you don't have a file missing etc

Interestingly even CCleaner froze trying to uninstall it.
