Okay did I see and hear rain effects as well?

This title will be purchased by me. I just can't turn away from a Civil War tactical battle game.

Yes, some of these battles happened in the rain, so we have rain effects and sounds going on during those battles.

Can the sound be adjusted. As load as it was in the twitch that might be annoying.

Well, yes and no. The game uses the standard windows sound, so by adjusting your volume dial or setting, you control the game's volume as well. You can also turn the music on or off and the other sound effects on or off in-game, so you have control but it's binary. We did not add a separate in-game volume slider for those different areas, figuring that you'd just use your normal volume control for that.

However, the livestream actually generated a discussion internally and we're going to add some new features in this area post release, starting with turning off the weather sound when the weather setting is OFF (rather than tying it into the other sound effects) and adding some in-game volume controls as well.

FWIW I've never had a problem with the sounds here, but they came through louder in the livestream than when I am just sitting at the computer and playing. I think part of that is also my inexperience with adjusting the various Twitch broadcasting volume settings. I have separately promised to research that a bit more before I broadcast again. [8D]

Great idea giving us more volume options. The look of the rain is cool, but the sound might get annoying rather quickly.

In games that have the choice, I always have sound effects set to max, but ambient sounds turned down to 50% or so. Having the option is always good.

Thanks Erik. I'm enjoying watching it on You Tube after only catching a few minutes on Twitch yesterday. Great presentation that's really giving me a good insight after a brief read through of the manual and a quick (hesitant) look at that starter scenario. This looks to be even better than I wan anticipating and that bar was already high.

Huzzah! Love seeing the game in action. Good job.

What are the rules about artillery firing over friendly units?

How are changes in elevation handled in the game? Are there any? How high?

Thanks,

max hight atm in game is i think 3, sure there's nothing higher, but could be wrong...

for guns it's line of sight, manual give more and better details of it, but basics are if you can see it and it's marked as a target in game, you can hit it, if it's blocked by smoke, terrain or another unit, then you can't, place a gun on a different hight also gives it better range and better FOV in most instances...

hopefully that's correct but if not a developer will correct me as i'm wrong, as many times as i'm right so not perfect in any way[;)]

changes in elevation shown, sorry it's hand drawn and filled in so it's not 100% correct but you hopefully will get the general feel of height etc

Does infantry on a hill get any kind of offensive and/or defensive bonus when attacking then enemy downhill from them, or when the enemy tries to attack uphill at them?

yes, as it's better FOV, and range plus other bonuses for the defender, plus minus for the attacker, depending on units involved etc on both sides, but all that information is in the attack report summery after the attack, but can also be gained from placing cursor over one then the other units etc

The manual mentions five levels of height plus ravines in section 3.1.
