Unit is confused

Post by jardail »

Gave a command to Voltigeurs de la Garde, Iere Battalion (Brigade Chartrand, Division de la Jeune Garde) an order to move 300 yards forward. The unit hit some buildings in the petite villa (or ville?) on the sw end of town near the objective hex and just began circling the small building. Attached is a screenshot of the result.

to the right of the fort is a small set of buildings. You can see the unit wrapped around one of the buildings with it's destination flag off in the distance.

Update: Got it unstuck rather simply by just giving it another location command, but you might want to look into why it got stuck in the first place.

might also be worth looking at using waypoints (hold down ALT) when plotting moves, particularly when in or close to towns, or in high unit density areas. Pathfinding can be a challenge for ai in those situations

I think it entered in some continous repath case, if you have the save please post it, it can be some strange location on the map to generate this.

I have a save of the scenario yes, but I didn't think to save it prior to or during this event.

Should I Post that last save I have or no? Never have done this before so don't know if a save after the event is helpful or not.

if the event can be replicated from a save, before is always helpful as once it can be repeated it can most of the time be seen and understood and then fixed on a developers machine

Unfortunately the save point that I have is well past the point that the event occurred. I'll see if I can replicate it and do a save before and during the event if it does replicate.

don't seem to be able to recreate this issue. May have been just a temporary glitch

Thanks Leatherneck. I went ahead and looked at the map files, and I couldn't see anything obvious that would cause the issue. Sometimes the collision radius can be set too large what can cause that, but all of the buildings in the area are set properly. I think you're right, must have been a temporary glitch. But keep an eye open and if it happens again, let us know .
