Game graphics broken

Basically the graphics of the game are broken on my computer.
All units are displayed in black squares, every movement order create a black square around the designated area and all trees and farmhouses are displayed in sizable squares.
It looks so bad the game is unplayable for me.
Anyone else has this problem and does anyone know of a fix?

Are you on Windows 8/8.1 ?

You have to use windows 7 compatibility mode for the game to run properly.

Yes that should fix it. We're working on a new full installer that will address it as well.

Thanks for your advice, this fixed my issue.
Perhaps on the same note, you can tell me why The Anniversary version suddenly decided not to function anymore. It worked perfectly fine until the game crashed on me and not even a reinstall will make the game open. It's just stuck in the opening menu. Compatibility mode doesnt work either.
