A-20 & A-24

corbulo,

A-20 level bomber yes & A-24 dive bomber yes, but see below.
16.3 Impact of Airfield Size
Airfield size has many effects. It is easier to damage and destroy aircraft on the ground at smaller airfields (less dispersion). It is also more likely that planes will suffer operational losses when landing at smaller airfields. Level bombers that operate from an airfield less than size 4 suffer three penalties when flying offensive missions (carrying bombs), with the penalties intensifying at smaller airfields.
1. operational losses on takeoff.
2. a reduction in their range as they cannot fly combat missions at greater than their normal range.
3. a diminished (extended range) bomb load.
If the number of aircraft on a base is greater than the airfield size x 50 than the number of planes that launch on any given mission is reduced by 25%. If the number of aircraft is greater than the airfield size x 100 than the number of planes launched mission is reduced by 25% a second time.

I wonder just how much harder it is specifically to damage a larger size airfield?

I have noticed its rather easy to do so even against a level 7-9 field.
