Reinforcements come from curent BG?

Close Combat: Gateway to Caen is the latest release in the critically-acclaimed Close Combat series and focuses on the largest, concentrated British offensive since the Normandy landings in an attempt to penetrate the German lines west of Caen and cross the Odon River to get the stalled advance moving again.

Reinforcements come from curent BG?

Post by Kanov »

Seeing this picture, you notice that the driver is SS but the tank is from the Heer.

Is it correct to assume that replacements are drawn from parent Battlegroup even if the unit is from a different branch? is this accurate?

Each unit that has taken losses requests replacements each night. A replacement pool, with some fraction of the requested men and vehicles, is generated and these are apportioned to the units. The code does not prevent a soldier of one 'branch' from being selected as a replacement for a team of a different branch, so in a mixed BG, SS and Heer replacements could end up in each other's teams.

this only affects Vehicles? I've not seen an infantry team of mixed branches, something that I was looking forward to after seeing the response.

I'd have to go back and review the code thoroughly to confirm, but off the top of my head I believe it can happen in infantry teams as well. It is going to be less likely, since infantry teams don't require full strength, and vehicle teams always do. So infantry teams are less likely to grab men out of the replacement pool unless they're critically low.

Yes, those are Heer panzer crew uniforms--there was a mix of past & present uniforms by time of Normandy campaign, and this supporting Heer Pz unit was available during Epsom, you must have merged it with another SS BG at one point?

I think this is a bug or a misplaced rank image. Because:

-I've seen it happen to vehicles only
-They don't need to incurr in casualties, i.e. a fresh unit is mixed too.

And its almost always the Driver, I've seen vehicles where there are more crew from another branch, but the driver almost invariably is from the other branch I don't know why.

Or can you show an infantry unit with mixed branches?

Sorry, don't understand what your saying compared the picture you posted. The image shows the correct uniforms/ranks and mix of uniform colors associated with the Heer Panther highlighted. Do you have another image to help clarify the situation? The crew are all from the same branch (Heer), he (the driver) is just wearing an older uniform type.
