Serious messenger bug

Trying the waterloo 11.30am battle playing the french side I experienced a serious bug in the command box system. Sending a dispatch via messenger from Napoleon to Pire on the leftmost point of the left flank, the messenger will take its way in front of the fireline through the boskett of hougoumont where he will be ( naturally) shot. this appears in my opininon as a result of the messengers always taking the shortest route (i.e.this will be a straight line between cic and recipient). this strange sort of behaviour severly restricts the proper use of the command box system. will it be possible to solve this problem in general? Personally I'm planning to resolve battles in sow exclusively by using the command box system, as it is the main feature in the game!

It will be necessary to have the context: did you keep a save or can you replicate again the event in another save? The courier should use the road if the receiver of message is sufficiently far and repath every loop if the enemy is under the 200 yards for avoid underfire zone. Of course if the receiver can be reached only passing near the enemy there's little margin (50 yards is the killing distance of courier) and also the courier is subject to the POV so a hidden to the view enemy can be see too late.
