[PROBABLY FIXED B732] Slowdown to unplayable under 678.18

Post by wild_Willie2 »

Hi there,

After a start of "Havana Daydreaming" under 678.18 everything ran fine until about two hours into the game (game time) when the the game slows down to the point that it takes five seconds of real time to run a single game second (and there aren't even that many AC airborne anymore). This did not happen under previous builds.

I am posting a save with the problem.

W.

EDIT: Sorry about the previously missing file.

We'll need the save when you get a chance.

Has this scenario been rebuilt using the latest db?

Thanks!

How do you "rebuild" the scenario under the latest db?

Do I need to open and re-save the scenario under the new db?

Yeah you do the update and then apply any .ini's to it which looking in your scenario repository's Felcan did include one. You then save.

Take a look in your game manual

Start at section 7.1.1

If you have any specific questions please do ask.

Thanks!

Remove the Tankers, rebuild and then re add the tankers.

Looking at this now, using the provided save. There are a number of bottlenecks conspiring to really put the brakes on this.

Removed one just now that roughly halves the execution time. Digging further.

Hi Folks,

Just another example - see attached:

Granted - this is a huge scenario at a pretty intense moment - but - restoring after save proves the software/hardware is capable of running it ... After the first 10 minutes or so of game play - progressively slowed down to between 400ms and 500ms delay via in game diagnostic (really slow)... Saved the game - restarted Command - then started my save - the time drop off to 30ms to 50 ms (seems to maintain close to 1:1 time to me)...

Regards,
Scott

Applied a number of tweaks that brought down the pulse time for the OP save from ~9sec to ~1.2sec. The changes are included in Build 721.

Trying this with the B721 changes, I am getting a consistent 300-500ms pulse time when running in accel mode, and 50-90ms when in 1-1.
