Real time or Turn based combat, which do you prefer?

I have enjoyed watching the battles unfold in real time at 1X speed. I haven't tried the turn based combat yet... is it any good? Which style do you use?

I like to watch them fly by at 10 speed. Most of the small little battles just don't last long and at 10 speed you see it unfold nice and fast. Even the multi-ship battles are fun to watch zip by. Now that I've learned to set ship staffing myself, and not let the program do it, it's easier and more fun to not get my hands dirty or waste a bunch of time not doing any better myself. I like playing the big picture part of the game and let the program handle the nitty gritty.
