Command: Northern Inferno is a DLC for Command: Modern Operations. Set in 1975, the Cold War is omnipresent and beneath the veneer of détente the tension between the two superpowers irreversibly escalate towards the ultimate confrontation.

[WAD]?Bug

Post by mattpenfold »

I am playing the second mission in the campaign, and have been doing OK.

Originally the SSBN would follow my commands, but now it will not change to the course I order, and when I try to change the depth and speed it just resets back to the original course, and a speed of 1kt. There is no indication of any enemy unit near the sub, although there is school of tuna.

Is this a bug, or intended behaviour?

Yeah, having just beat that scenario, I think it is the choice of the AI captain, it is mission critical that the SSBN reach it's patrol station, so I think it wants the least danger to itself so it is ultra cautious.

Yeah, I think you are right. I eventually got the sub moving in the right direction.

It was frustrating though as the skipper could have headed for deeper water as the contact (which turned out to be biological) was due south at the time of detection.

The SSBN's Side Doctrine is that it will automatically evade from threats - so you've probably got a hostile submarine detected somewhere and the SSBN is swimming away from it very quietly. Go into your doctrine settings and toward the bottom set 'Automatic Evasion' to 'No'. Once you do that, it'll follow your waypoints.
