Disappointed in the #3 scenario of NI Campaign

Post by GBS »

Got through the first two scenarios ok. all of a sudden in #3, Fast and Furious, there is no scoring. I am losing Ships and Planes and I am sinking enemy ships including one of the LST as ordered and there is no scoring recognized at all. I hope that this isn't a campaign where you can't go to #4 until #3 is won because it doesn't look to me like #3 can be won. Please say this isn't so.

Yes it is. But it´s still pretty hard for being an "intro-szenario"

Started #3 again with same result. I hope I dont have to start the campaign again for the fix to take effect. Wish the Devs would reply.

I had the same problem, you can just replace the scenario with a new copy and restart your save game.
One advantage was that I now finished the scenario without any ship losses because I found out how to effectively kill the Osas.

Tip, another scenario (Damn the torpedos ) is also bugged and will also need to be replaced by a new version...

Willie where can I find a new copy to replace the old scenario with. Do I need to go back and refinish #2 again from and old save?

Does Steam automatically apply these patches, or do Steam users still have to download them?

This is still a beta patch, once it goes official it will automatically get installed. But even steam players (like myself) can now already manually copy these files to their directory and get the patch this way.

I actually quite enjoyed Northern Inferno scenario #3. However I was wondering if the scenario is supposed to end immediately after just one of the Amphib. units is sunk. I got the scenario concluded message right after the F-5s struck and took out the just one of the LSTs. Continued playing and tried a few approaches. Unlike wild_Willie2 I haven't perfected the art of taking out the Osas yet.

Those Norwegian PT boats have some awesome names (e.g. Sleipnir) and their crews must have serious balls of steel considering the invading force they are up against in this one.

Tip, after your first airstrike (3-4 Osa kills) you have the time to rearm all your F5's met Bullpups and manually fire one or two at each of the remaining Osa's for a kill.

Move your fleet away from the Osa's and only engage the Sovjet invasion forces after the Osa's have been destroyed..

Hello,

This is as designed. On all the NI scenarios the player has the option of advancing to the next one as soon as he achieves a "minor victory" status (in this case, sinking the LST). Of course if he wants he can instead press on to achieve a greater victory.

I have same problem, I cannot win this scenario even if I sink all russian LSTs.

I did apply the patch (new NI3 scenario file). Is it so, that this patch only helps if I restart the scenario?

Previously I manually deleted all my other NI saves but one, which is not from the start of scenario.

So, do I have to restart whole campaign to be able to pass scenario NI3?

No, you only have to restart scenario #3.

It seems that loading a "checkpoint" via campaign dialog seems to restart campaign scenario. My problem was that I had already deleted all my "checkpoint" saves. Or is just loading NI scenario via scenario dialog exactly the same thing as loading it via campaign dialog?

This is not a problem anymore, since I already restarted campaign and played through two first scenarios again, it was easy this time :)

Argh, even after applying patch and restarting campaign, I get 0 score for scenario #3 and cannot continue campaign.

When I look for properties of file "3. The Fast and the Furious 20 Aug 1975.scen", I get this:

This file came from another computer
and might be blocked to help protect
this computer.

Looks like the russkies were saved by Windows 10 or virus protection :(

Open savegame with the scenario editor, go to the LUA Console and run the following command:
ScenEdit_SetScore("NATO", 1000000)

note: im not 100% sure if NATO is the player's side on that mission, but you get the idea.

To fix the scoring issue, you can go to the editor, select Event actions, go to the event 'Points for sinking Amphibs' or something like that, then select the side to NATO. Then you will get the points and win the game (as long as you do it before you sink an amphib)
