Paranoia strikes deep!

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

Paranoia strikes deep!

Post by elmo3 »

There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware...

According to Stalin's doctor he only had a one in ten chance of having a paranoia episode. However Stalin was sitting in the Kremlin, picked up his 100 sided die, and rolled a six! He immediately ordered his toadie Lt. Gen. V.N. Bespalov shot. The poor guy was no threat at -1, and he had a +17 initiative! Stalin also threw away 8 PP's that were saved up! He deserves to lose the war for that episode.

[:D] Great fun.

Yeah, I do really like the "role-playing" elements that the designers have built into this game. It sort of captures the human element of the war in a unique way.

I wonder if any events occur for General Beck and Zossen? Would be interesting to go into 1943 and the wine bottles blow up Hitler in the plane?

Odessa fell in my game and that helped push Stalin's paranoia level to 78%. Somehow he held it together! He rolled 100. [:D]

Any takers on whether he will blow his top next turn? Believe me I'm not going to leave any unspent PP's.

It's the 29th of August and the heroic defenders of Riga finally succumbed. So did Stalin's sanity. One Major General from each front was executed as an example to others. The casualties were the appartchik Mostevenko of the 33rd Army (+3 threat), and two toadies Khatskilevich (47th Army, threat -1) and Koroteev (42nd Army, threat +2). At least the incoming Generals have a little less threat in total, but unfortunately they also have significantly less initiative.

So that makes three episodes in about 2 months. And I thought I was doing well?! [X(] Luckily I saw this coming and spent the 20 PP's I was saving to demand more power from the Politburo. Kiev will probably be next to fall but it is well defended so hopefully not for several more turns.

Definitely fun. Just reporting this here to keep track of how many episodes occur over the course of my game. Hopefully they will not continue at this rate! [;)]
