Unique Experience!!!

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

Unique Experience!!!

Post by Delaware »

I am, admittedly, a half hearted wargamer. I like the idea of being a grognard more than the actually work of being one. I have played them all, WITE, WITW, CW2, DC:CB, WITP: AE, etc etc. Fun stuff but nothing has "immersed" me more than Barbarossa. The decision mechanism, with its accompanying personality modifiers among high command, has sucked me in. I am engrossed with this game that has done the best job ever, IMHO, of modelling the linkage between performance on the battlefield and the whims of superiors. I have read many books on the struggles that Lee faced with the political goals of Richmond or Washington trying to fight the British on one hand and the Continental Congress on the other. But this game has made that conflict thrillingly come to life.

Well done! I am very impressed. Now how about an American Civil War game where you play Lee or McClellan and Lincoln and Davis sabotage your best efforts???

This game is precisely the kind of war game that I've wished for for a long time. I chose "Moscow or Bust!" during the opening turn, only to be faced next turn with a decree by the Führer that focus should be directed against Leningrad and Rostov. [:D] It's certainly interesting to not be omnipotent for a change.

Hi Kronlog,

If you've opted for the 'Moscow or Bust' strategy Hitler's choice won't affect you as your Victory conditions are set on Moscow.

However Hitler's preferences do impact on all decisions as any that favour his preferred objective will be cheaper (PP's) and those that don't will be costlier. You can see this in the 'Option Cost' report which is also the last one in any Decision Report Bundle.

Cheers,
Cameron

Ok, thank you. Though I think I'll make a half-hearted attempt at some of his objectives for role playing reasons. Again, this is truly a great game! [:)]
