Probably should be in the main forum. The flotation has to be either < or < 50 for withdrawal. If you'd rather lose vps than pps, you can also send it on a bombardment mission to Singapore.

I guess my question really is why isn't the ship repairing in any of these ports...I know I have to get damage down to withdraw...but if the ports won't repair that obviously won't work...

If any of the flotation damage is major, which with a total of 70, you can expect a large percentage to be major, it needs to be moved into a shipyard for repair.

Colombo has a ship yard it should fit into.

The key is seeing how long it will take to get the damage down to a level that will allow the ship to withdraw and examining the equation of what is cheaper, the loss of PPs for the duration it takes to get it down to a withdrawal level or if sending it on a high speed mission which will sink it is cheaper.

You have to decide what will hurt you more. The VP loss for the sinking or the PP loss for the duration before it can withdraw,
Hans

I did something like this with the Valiant. I put it in Colombo, it took 4 or 5 days/point. Luckily it was about 50 days before the actual withdraw date.

This has always been an issue with big ships that are due to withdraw. Sometimes it is better not to use them in combat as the repair facilities in Burma India theater are limited. I know I am not the first person to just send a heavily damaged to sea and put it on a high speed run towards the nearest enemy bomber force. Sometimes the PPs are more important that the ship. It would be nice if you could substitute other ships but you can't.

Firstly, a higher number of Major Float or Engine damage will take several turns to accumulate enough Repair points to remove a single point of damage. You are best off putting her in a port with a Repair Shipyard large enough to accommodate her, which in this case is 32 or higher.

The only Repair Shipyards in that area that can handle your ship are Colombo (40) and Cape Town (80). Once you put her in a shipyard, don't touch it, or you will lose the accumulated repair points.
