CV transfer to base air group damaged

Post by Ironpawz »

Newbie here.

Looking at the re sizing info - but when I transfer a air group from the carrier which is in a Aircombat task force to the base, all the planes become damaged - per the instructions it looks like this shouldn't happen, wondering if I am doing something in error.

This has to do with Zuiho and Hosho at Hiroshima.

Thanks for any help/info.

Will happen when ships are docked. Undock them for planes to fly

A couple of notes about this.

When they fly off the CV, there is a chance for each plane to be damaged or become an "ops loss", as they're called (accidents, etc.).

When the TF is docked or the CV is disbanded in port, they transfer via crane and none are lost to ops. If you don't need the planes operational on the ground right away, this is what you should do.

Adding to Lokasenna's comments. Another scenario is you have damaged planes on the CV and you want to get all of them onto the base airfield before starting CV repair or update. Be sure to DOCK/disband to transfer as you can't fly damaged planes of the deck...which will leave a splinter group for what could be a significant period of time.

or...fly what you can, dock and unload the rest.

so many options! [:)]

Yep, if you have damaged planes and want the whole thing on land, then do it this way. Another thing you can do is have it undocked and fly off the Ready planes...then dock and it will let you transfer off the damaged/maintain'd planes as well.

Also, if you have a CV that is repairing and you want to transfer the air groups off, you CAN still get at the interface to do so but you can't do it through the "Manage ship repair" screen. You can do it from 2 directions:

1) Press the "N" key. This will bring up all "Naval" air forces (those on ships, even on Air Transport TFs). Find the unit you want to transfer off and click on it.

2) Go to the base in question and in the ships in port list, click the toggle at the bottom of the list for "Show ships under repair" - this will allow you to click on the ship and get to its standard information screen, exactly as if it were disbanded in port but at Readiness mode, and allow you to click on the air groups to transfer them off.
