Heh heh heh. Not too modest, eh Hetz? Still, there are worse people that could claim that title.

Hey, wait a minute, now I ask you, is that something that a shy, modest, unassuming personage like myself would do? .........................................Uh....................Could I rephrase that?

That title ain't my doing. Ron the creator of AutoHost and the Stars! Homeworld Forum just did it to get me in trouble :(

He's the person that turned me on to Stars!. Something that I still hold against him as the most diabolically fiendish revenge wrought upon me. And to think that all I did was to thump him a time or two. When he redid the Forum he gave me the (headless) ToS avatar (beams) and then sometime later gave me (on his own) the stars! ranking of expert in ToS. I didn't ask him to do it and I don't claim the rank for myself. I have never said that I'm the best netplayer just that I'm the most netplayer. After 260 netgames I'm still lucky to be holding at a little over 60/40 (wins/losses) which is hardly a sintillant winning percentage.

just b/c you win a lot don't mean you're an expert, ans just because you lose all the time doesn't mean you don't know what your doing.

take me for example. (*struggles not to sound too boastful*) last i recall i had an online win/loss percentage of something like 85-90%. and yet i'd hardly call myself an "expert" considering i havn't played in nigh on a year. most of the time i'm just lucky (or manage to convince the other titan to lay down and die for me... or formerly, give them enough whine to make them stop hitting me. *g* i try not now...) Hetz, on the other hand, has played enought to definately deserve the title of "expert" if not "grand-master supreme" or some such. (ok so i'm gonig a bit overboard... *g*)

P.S. whatever happened to the ranking lists we used to keep? i havn't been noticing them when i check in lately....

How about ToS Yoda?

And before someone or even he get all wisease it's the title of someone with lots of knowledge and experience. And wisdom. And ability. And advice.

Upon rereading my post I sadly (and shamefully) need to correct a wrong impression.

What Ron did was a gift and a gift that I treasure. I am the only person on the forum with an avatar. This floored me the 1st time that I saw it and still blows me away. An absolutely lovely gift from a person that I'm proud to call a friend. His ranking of me is, I hope, a tribute to my attempts to be a teacher and a sharer of knowledge. This is a thing that the Stars experts are united in.

All that you need to know of Ron is, that when I was hospitalized the last time, he took it upon himself to let all of you know that I was ill. An action that, I suspect, took him no more thought than does breathing.

I have been blessed over and over by having more, and better, friends than I have earned or deserve. Ron has very quickly made himself someone who's good opinion and respect I value immensely.

Ron if my 1st post, done at the end of a working day and in reflex rather than in thought conveyed anything else than that to you, I am so very very sorry.

ROFL!! Revenge?? Well, I hadn't intended it that way... :p I seem to recall thumping you a few times as well. :D

He was surprised at the depth of the game, and says he's filled 5 3-ring binders with printouts of strategies, tips, etc about Stars!.

Anyway, he's been getting back at me by recruting Stars! players for ToS. :) which is just fine, since they are both great strategy games in their own way. Also, he keeps getting killed in Stars! multiplayer games, so this way he gets revenge on those players since he's much better at ToS than they are!

As for giving him that avatar, I've read so many posts on this forum about Hetzer's head shots that I thought it appropriate! :) I certainly don't mind making my forum users curious about what ToS is.

I enjoy talking with Hetzer, and he is a great ToS teacher. :) Sometimes he has a weird sense of humor and a wicked laugh, though! ;)

On reflection, I've changed his tag to 'mentor' which is very appropriate. The former term 'expert' was perhaps too strong, and there was less agreement on its definition and use.

Hetzer, the ToS Mentor. (yes, 'Yoda' would probably work also)
The sharer of ToS wisdom, knowledge, the teacher, the oh-so-lucky shot taker of heads, the collector of Titan heads..., my friend Hetzer.
