Target hex off the Map

Post by blackcloud6 »

I'm playing the third training scenario. I attempt to call the OBA into hex 6,28. Contact and Access are successful but then I get a message "OBA: 80 MTR mission cancelled, Target HEX is off the map."

Why am I getting this message when I target a hex on the map?

Because there is error correct applied to OBA - there is no such thing is 100% accurate fire, please see section 9.4 of the manual.

Thanks

OK, after seeing the OBA actually hitting the map, I now understand that "target hex off map" means that the shot fell off the map. You may consider changing it to say "Shot falls off map, mission cancelled." To me, "target hex" means the hex I wish to target, not where the OBA actually hits.

I read section 9.4 and it didn't mention anything about "target hex off the map" or what any of the statements you wills mean.

Thanks for your help.

Step 7 of the OBA, in the manual:

"If battery contact is successful the hit error (drift) from the desired hex is determined and the OBA crosshair is placed on the map at a target hex."
