Does anyone know how (idiot language please) I can switch back to the blue Commonwealth counters? I really like my beige units but simply cannot make out the convoys in the production screen as white on beige + tiny print = goobledegook.

Hi Warspite1,

When you downloaded the KiF mod files and copied them into the WiF folders, did you keep copies of the originals by renaming them first? If so, it's a case of going though the folders deleting the KiF files and renaming the original files to their original names. If you moved them as well, they'll need to go back to their original location. If you simply overwrote the originals then you would need to obtain some replacements. One of the KiF moders may know better than me which ones you need and could post them for yours and others benefit.

The alternative global solution is to completely uninstall the game from your PC and then reinstall from scratch using either your original game disc or downloading from the Matrix site. Are you still running one of the older versions? If so, unless you are happy to update to 2.1.4, you would need to check your version is still available first.

Hope this helps.

Ah ........

Well, good luck with the reinstall!

I'll have a look this evening and see if I can work out which are the files you need and either e-mail or post them in tech support.

I'll assume you can unzip files and know how to copy files into folders otherwise you wouldn't have been able to install the KiF Mod files in the first place.

After you have downloaded the attachment, you should be able to click or double-click on it to open it, where you'll get a folder called CW Original. Inside this folder are two more folders: Map Data and Unit Bitmaps. The files in these two folders need to be copied into the equivalent MWiF game folders.

If you find your Matrix Games folder on your computer, that should contain a folder for World in Flames. Open the WiF folder and you'll find a folder called Data. Opening the Data folder will give one called Map Data. There you'll find two files with the same name as those that came with the attachment. Either delete these files or (better) rename them.

You then copy the two files from the CW Originals/Map Data folder to the WiF/Data/Map Data Folder.

Go back to the World in Flames Folder.

You will see another folder called Bitmaps. Open this and you will find a folder called Unit Bitmaps. This folder contains the files that need to be replaced by the ones in the Unit Bitmaps folder in the attachment. Repeat what you did for the Map Data files. This time though there are some 30+ to rename and then replace.

It might be easier (and quicker) to completely uninstall MWiF from your computer and then reinstall from the disc that came with the manuals. You should then be able to update to the latest version easily enough. If you don't want the latest version it looks like 1.3.3 and 1.4.5 are still available alongside 2.1.4.
