CTD on DW:U version 1.9.5.12

I've recently started getting a CTD problem when loading the game.

What happens is this:

1. If I boot my computer, then try to start DW:U immediately (from Steam), it launches fine.

2. If I now quit DW:U, then try to relaunch it, I will get a crash to desktop after 'feeding the giant kaltors', with no crashdump report. This CTD is 100% reliable.

3. If I boot my computer, then do other things (checking Internet, email), sometimes DW:U will CTD when launching for the first time, but this is not 100% reliable. DW:U will still CTD if I ever try to launch it a second time.

This is a new problem which I haven't experienced previously. Possible explanations include: (1) a recent update to Windows 10 (but DW:U has been running Windows 10 ok for me up until now; (2) a recent update to my graphics driver); (3) some other update I'm unaware of; or (4) a failure or problem with one of my computer components.

Anyone got any ideas?
