Changing Names

Post by warspite1 »

Does anyone know if there is an ability to change the names of units please? The navy is full of mis-spelt, duplicated, and in some cases not even named vessels. I would like to change some of these but don't have a clue how to go about it.

Many thanks.

To my knowledge, individual unit names can not be changed.

you can, but it means playing around the models directory and so on. If anyone wants to know I'll happily put together some notes but its a bit fiddly compared to simply renaming stacks

That would make sense loki100, having to change it database side. I only thought in terms of "in game".

Hi Loki, yes I would be really interested in this. I must confess I was a tad disappointed to see at least 3 HMS Newcastle's, 2 Diamond's, 2 Active's, a Warspite and many more oddities.

If you can spare the time to provide some instructions I would be very grateful.

just to follow up on this. had a chat with those who know more than me and we discovered that the individual names for fresh built ships (all nationalities) were lost in the last patch or so. Should re-appear in the next patch - I'll do some notes on both modding the unit files and the set up files at that stage - easier to point to practical issues
