Pick up Support Weapons

Post by lhmg »

I cant find anything in the manual about picking up or swapping weapons dropped by others. What weapons can leaders pick up and use friendly or enemy. Can you use captured weapons? What kind? How do you do it? Thanks. Take care.

A unit may pick up SW during the Movement Segment: when you enter a hex containing an unpossessed SW, the "Recover WP" button appears on the right. Select the unit and the SW, then click on the "Recover WP" button. This operation costs MF, so the option won't be available if you have not enough MFs remaining.

Otherwise, units (squads, HS and crews) will attempt to recover unpossessed SW during the administrative segment. Success is not automatic and the player has no control over who picks up what (a US infantry squad picked up a Radio I badly needed to call OBA [:(] even though it cannot use it. Unfortunately, so far there is no way to exchange SW between units, but this will change with the upcoming patch).

Leaders do not seem to be very interested in picking up SW, with the exception of radios. According to the manual, leaders can use MGs (without ROF) and LATW (the latter is not true in the current version, but this will also be corrected in the patch).

Enemy SW cannot be picked up or used: if you attempt picking them up, you will get a warning stating "Wrong type of Support Weapon" (I tried picking up a .50 cal HMG with a German squad [:D]).

Cool. Will you be able to use captured weapons after patch. Can squads carry two support weapons?

Sorry no captured weapon usage and a personnel unit can only carry one support weapon st the time.

Only Peter can answer to the first question.

As regards to the second, so far any unit can only carry a single weapons (and yes, I miss those German squads going around carrying as much weaponry - LMGs, AT mines, PF, DC - they looked like Arnold in "Commando" [:D])

Yeah I had hoped for at least two for a squad and one for leader or half squad [:D]
