Diary error in exec

Got an error message on turn 2:

Not only line 54, but 55 to 58 also.

Can you give me any context for the error, eg. what turn, PBEM?, did it happen only once?

Hi,

Its happened to me as well. PBEM v1.03p, me as Soviets, turn 2. When I had finished my turn and started uploading to server the error message came up 3-4 times.

Ok'd it each time and then the game finally uploaded (hopefully!) successfully.

Haven't had the chance to play any further yet. In my mirror match Axis turn 2 completed fine with no error at all.

I just started a second attempt (doing now nothing as Germany) and the same error occurred
(same content) in turn 2.

Turn 1 onward. Same lines reported each turn.

I think i got a clue to what caused this. Could you check inside the game directory (thats the one with the Barbarossa.exe file in it) if you can see a directory called 'metadata' ?

If not could you try creating a directory called 'metadata' there and re-starting the game and seeing if the problem goes away.

This might be due to a directory being forgotten by the installer team.

For what it's worth:
- I made a test run up to turn 4, german vs AI, not doing anything except hitting "next turn". Got no error.
- I have applied 1.03p official over latest beta (1.03m3)
- I have the metadata directory in my game directory

Hi Francisus,

Thanks for reporting in. 1.03m3 was the last manual public beta patch and that one worked correctly.
So having applied 1.03p over it would make you OK.

Its the people who upgraded from v1.02 or a very early 1.03 that would run into this problem.

I checked and there was no "Metadata" folder, so created one and it does indeed appear to have solved the problem.

Hi Johnnie,

Yep, I think so. It was the update installer not including some necessary files in the \Metadata directory. Provided you've got files (there's 5 of them, all WD_something) you're O.K.

I went from the last official patch to current official patch. I understand the Diary error is fixed but it wasn't when I applied the current official patch. What do I do to fix it? Thanks.

Check your game folder and have a look in the \Metadata directory.

Are there any files there?
